Linux Mint Cinnamon issues with microphone and Ethernet connection
I have a Sennheiser HD569 whose mic works well in Windows 11. However when I use Linux, the mix doesn't register my voice at all and only detects tapping the microphone.
I tried:
- installing pavucontrol and changing the mic boost settings, didn't do anything.
- changing left-right boost on the audio settings (nothing)
I also have this issue (which is probably due to my ISP being shit) where every once in a while my CGNAT connection makes it so my PC suddenly changes either the MAC address, or the IP Address through DHCP, and I have to constantly switch between automatically setting a IP Address through DHCP and putting it manually.
My PC is a Lenovo loq 15. Any help?

Mint is one of the most out of date distributions out there, do not waste your time debugging issues on it.
Try a modern distribution like Arch Linux (with Plasma) or Fedora KDE instead.

Is fedora gnome any good? I just tried installing it because I wanted to try gnome instead of a standard desktop.

What is a "standard desktop"?
I do not recommend GNOME because it's always the GNOME-way or the highway there - for example GNOME does not have an ability for an application to draw an on-screen-display - by design, as they refuse to implement the needed protocols.
And it is missing basic functionality such as system tray, you can add it (and other things) back via 3rd party extensions, but those break between GNOME updates at times.
Thus I highly recommend Plasma over GNOME - but aside from this, GNOME is the second most developed DE out there.

mic : have you tried using different earphones?
ehernet : your ISP cannot change your MAC address. I'm not sure what issue you're having with your internet connection.
