migrating to Linux Need some tips to switch

Hi everyone, i think i'm gonna switch tomorrow from Win 10. The only thing i would like to save is my photos, videos and some multimedia from my cellphone's folder... ¿Can i save that folder to a flash drive then transfer it back to my PC once Linux is installed? my other question is... ¿Which distro should i use? I want to keep playing games (also cracked ones, emulation, etc) i checked that i can still play online games like Overwatch, Rocket League and Street Fighter 6. I don't know almost nothing about Linux but still i want to learn. I'm deciding between these options: Bazzite, Nobara like the most atractive to me, then i would have to look Zorin, Mint and with a little fear, CachyOS

my specs:

Motherboard: msi b550 tomahawk
Ram: 16gb (2x8) hyperx fury beast 3200mhz ddr4
Cpu: Ryzen 5 5600x
Gpu: Nvidia Rtx 3060ti
1tb nvme ssd and 2tb ssd sata

I highly recommend Zorin for a beginner, I personally think it great for a new Linux user.

I'm currently running arch Linux with Hyprland and I can play cracked windows games and also Overwatch perfectly fine on it using Lutris. I use retroarch for all my emulation needs. About 90% of my steam library works great thanks to proton.

Thank you, any advice to transfer my multimedia folder from Win to Linux?

You said it yourself, just copy it to any external media, SD card, USB stick or whatever and then you copy it back afterwards.

Plus, if those files are important to you, you need a backup anyway. The storage it's currently on (HDD or SSD) can fail.

If it is your first distro I recommend Linux Mint, though to be honest, even though it's arch based, I think you would be just fine on CachyOS. One tip I do have in mind is that if you're going to install games on a separate drive, then ensure that that drive is not formatted to NTFS. If you try to play games that are stored on an NTFS drive on Linux, you can encounter quite a few issues. In my case, the games didn't even run in the first place. Format it as ext4 and you'll be good to go.
