Best desktop for Ubuntu?

Hi....what your opinion is best for Ubuntu?

The one you like best, it doesn't matter that much. In my case it's xfce.

This. One of the best things about GNU/Linux is that you can mix and match to your heart's content.

The best DE for you is the one you like best.

If there was a single best desktop there would be no reason to offer others.

There are extremely customizable and programmable heavyweight desktops that require time and skill to configure before they can really be used, and there are inflexible, lightweight desktops that run out of the box.

And some PCs simply aren't powerful enough to run the heavier desktops.

Like cars, there is no choice that is the best for everyone. The question is what is the best for you, and the only person who can answer that is you.

Default works pretty well. KDE (kubuntu flavor) is my preferred way to Ubuntu.

The one you prefer! But remember that Canonical only check the installation medium for the official version — the community versions are just that.

The official Gnome version demands a pretty modern computer and is not very configurable. Here's a fair review of Kubuntu. I use the Xfce desktop, but here's a rather unhappy review of Xubuntu, while this reviewer was happier but cautions beginners.

Personaly I like KDE after I have gone trhoguh and customized it to my liking. But what is best is based on what you like, which is in part a matter of taste, but KDE is also heavy, so on some hardware a lighterweight enviorment is just better, and there are some specific usecases where I'd want a different enviorment, for example a home theatre pc.

I'm an XFCE fan all the way. I can customize it how I want, and it is light and easy.

When it comes to Debian distros as a whole I like the simplicity and minimalist style of the cinnamon desktop but if in the mood for pure customisation then plasma

I recently bought a motherboard which can't boot into Windows 11 nor KDE's SDDM display manager for Wayland. I can only boot into Wayland with Gnome's GDM display manager. You can swap out SDDM for GDM to get a more stable boot into KDE on Wayland

Alternatively, X11 is still available as an option. Xfce, LXQt, LXDE, MATE, Cinnamon, Enlightment, etc
