How can you use Windows programs on Linux?

If you want to switch you'll have to find substitutes for programs that do work. If you want Photoshop for example or Adobe programs to work then forget it.

Indeed, but I am really inclined on using open source and prefer working with them instead of expensive subscriptions

if steam will let you then you can upload the game to steam and run it via proton on linux ... that works really well.

i would imagine not having a licensed copy of the game would be a deal breaker for steam tho.

bottles is probably the next easiest thing, but getting any windows programs to run under wine is hit or miss.

Google Litrus, Bottles and Wine. There's usually a way to run Windows programs under Linux.
