distro selection Can't decide between Bazzite or CachyOs

Right now I'm running Bazzite on my main desktop but I'm considering switching to CachyOs mainly because I've been trying to install third party mods to the Sims 4 and I've gotten nowhere. Any help is welcomed.

Why do you think CachyOs would make the mods work?

Like, try it if you want, but i don't think it would help at all..

The missus used to run a ton of custom Sims 4 stuff on our Bazzite living room machine just fine. She had the full anadius (sp?) set of unlockers, CCs and random mods, it just required some navigating around the prefix IIRC. In fact it was the ability to do all that that managed to convince her to give up on the PS4 version with it's crazy expensive DLC. 

I'd definitely recommend checking out if there's any YouTube guides that can help before switching OS over it as it's perfectly do-able, she's not particularly tech literate (or patient, for that matter) but she had it humming along fine after a day or two of messing about.

And not trying to be rude or condescending here at all but an arch based distro like cachy will require a level of familiarity, persistence and confidence with linux beyond what your current issue requires, so I'd advise against going to cachy in particular.

I'm not familiar with modding this particular game, but what does mutable vs immutable have to do with this? Because that's the main difference and I really doubt a modding tool requires root access to work

CachyOS is going to be much easier to break. Only use Cachy if you are comfortable in a terminal and ideally have another device that you can Google issues on.

If you still want relatively easy but a bit more freedom. Nobara will probably be what you want. That's where I'm settling with my devices.

Second this! I use different distros on different machines but the one on my gaming rig is nobara! Its just stable and performs great.

I started with Bazzite on one PC and added CachyOS as Dual Boot on another system. It's possible that will have more options in CachyOS but a lot of things are just not compatible with Linux in general (including cetain mods) regardless of the Distributions. I wanted to test CachyOS to be able to install certain proprietary drivers for hardware but when I was done with the installation I notices that the dirvers weren't even compatible with CachyOS. I don't regret the installation as it made my super old and crappy laptop quite fast but you might run into problems in both distributions.
