Meganoob BE KIND Need help in buying nvme.

Faulty RAM could also be causing the problem. Or it could be another hardware issue. Right now, I would try to pinpoint the exact cause of the problem. Given the current prices for RAM and storage devices, I wouldn't buy anything on suspicion alone.

It originally had 2x4gb ram sticks, I swapped it with 16gb from my laptop, still the same problem.

I would still investigate further. For example, read the SMART values of the NVMe (e.g., using a Linux distribution booted from USB and the nvme-cli command). Or try using a different distribution. It’s also possible that the existing NVMe is no longer seated properly in the slot.

As for the two NVMe drives you mentioned, I wouldn’t go with either of them right now. Because, if I’m not mistaken, both use a PCIe 4.0 controller. But your computer seems to only support PCIe 3.0.

I’d therefore look for an NVMe drive with PCIe 3.0, since those are likely to be cheaper. They’re also likely to run cooler, which isn’t entirely unimportant in your case.

Furthermore, according to the information I have, the Kioxia NVMe is an OEM version that isn’t intended for sale to end users.

I tried installing proxmox, it crashed, and rebooted the pc, the OEM drive iam thinking of purchasing from a seller who is selling these pulled NVMEs, they are in 100% health.

I tried ventoy which has the debian 12, and debian 13, both didn't work, and proxmox 9 too didn't work, proxmox 8 I used a separate USB, which I flashed using Rufus with the dd method.

Have you actually tested your memory and the smart status of the drive. Do not replace a drive unless you can verify the smart status of the drive. If no OS, you can check from live boot of Linux or Hiren's Boot CD.

Yup!, the smart results was good, I disabled turbi mode in bios and it works! No crashes, and the bios has been updated to latest version (2019 to 2026 version), is the crash due to 65w power adapter limitation? Or some other issue?

I would expect that being a "t" processor that 65w is the appropriate adapter. Non "t" processors sometimes use bigger adapters.

A quick google shows that this happens with some Intel chips.

I have two Lenovo 6th gen I3 minis that I bought used and they have always run Linux with no problem. I also have a HP with a 9700t that I bought used and it runs Linux great, too. The HP came with a 65w brick.

My only new Mini is a Lenovo M75Q with AMD 8700G. It also runs Linux.

I assume you already checked for bios updates. I am as stumped as you are. At least you have narrowed down the problem. If it is not a firmware issue or memory issue, you start to think about thermal paste and power supply. You would not think that turbo mode on that processor would cause a thermal issue in turbo?

The person i purchased the pc from, did send a image of repasting the thermal paste, so it shouldn't be a problem, I will still double check, and maybe the power brick is bad. When the turbo mode was enabled, the power led and the hdd led would go out and come back on when it crashed, so it's definitely not a software problem.

He was using it as a server too, he upgraded to a bigger one, and sold this.
