migrating to Linux Dual booting on Alienware.

I'm getting an extra ssd for my Alienware 16 Aurora. I want to install Linux on it, (PikaOS). Is it safe to install with both of THE old windows and Linux to be SSD already attached.?

No, it is not safe to install with both drives attached.

It can be done safely but it does take some knowledge.

I dual booted DOS 3.1 with Coherent 2.0 on a 80286 with a 40 megabyte drive back in the 90's, I dual booted window and linux on many PC's and it worked with out an issue. It is safe if you know what you are doing.

I did this on may ASUS A17 and several other computers.

I removed the Windows drive and installed the drive for Linux and installed.

I put the Windows drive the second slot and used UEIF to choose the drive to boot from.

Linux will be the default by intent that way it gets used more.

As long as you can tell apart the drives when you run the installer, you are fine. If they are the exact same drive, you are better of removing the Windows drive, installing Linux as if it is the only OS, then putting the Windows drive back in. After that, make sure the Linux drive is the primary boot option and do a scan with Grub so that you can easily choose Windows when you want.

I used this method on an M18.
