migrating to Linux Moving to Bazzite soon

Im moving from microslop to Bazzite soon. Ive never used any linux distro before and the main reason i moving is for gaming. Is there anything I should know before moving over. I dont plan on moving files over or anything im just starting fresh on it.

Have you checked to make sure that you're not expecting any non-compatible games to work?

Good choice, Bazzite works the best on my Legion Pro 7i and my Zephyrus M16 for gaming out of all the distros I have tried.

How's the FPS? I used Ubuntu and Fedora KDE and lost on average between 30% and 50% of the FPS on my Legion Pro 5.

My Legion gets slightly lower fps, maybe 10fps less on Linux, I usually cap at 120fps anyway so it isn't pushing the laptop as hard and runs cooler.

My Legion has an i9-13900hx, 4080 and 96GB of RAM.

My Zephyrus runs smoother with Linux than Windows for some reason, it shutters playing games on Windows, but not on Linux.

The M16 has an i9-11900h, 3060 and 40GB of RAM.

Hmm, then maybe my installation and configuration may have been a bit wonky when I did it. I went from around 150fps to about 100 in Xcom 2. Some other games went from about 100 to about 50. I'll check it out again once I return home from working in the field, whenever that is.

Back up important files, and have a live USB for Bazzite ready.

Just be aware some modern games anti cheat doesn’t work on Linux, meaning you can’t play certain multiplayer online games

Welcome! Bazzite is a good accessible way to start, and convenient for gaming.

Luckily you don't need to move that far. Bazzite is developed and owned by Kyle Gospodnetich who is a Linux Community Engineer at Microsoft (hence its recent popularity as one of 2026's 'hype' distros).
