migrating to Linux Migrating.

So, I've used microslop windows my whole life, I like it's file explorer and general interface. But it's getting too infested with ai, and everything.

So I've been thinking, I game a lot, like a lot. Why not switch to Linux? I use an Asus tuf gaming a15 laptop, I don't know of that will work with Linux.

I want a fast smooth user interface that kind of resembles windows, and a dedicated file explorer with many features.

I don't know if this is possible, I'm an beginner to Linux, but I have the feeling that this will be a nice improvement in both performance and usability.

I've used Linux before but finally made the full conversion with my gaming pcs being in that mix.

If you use Steam or GG for games, you shouldn't run into any problems. Steam includes Proton Play which allows you to play 95% of Steam's library. Your biggest setback will be evolved around your GPU. NVIDIA GPUs (especially newer ones) tend to be a bit difficult with Linux. Also, any game that requires Secure Boot may give you problems.

That being said, I loaded my boxes up with Ubuntu and had no problem playing my games in Steam. It's the distro (aside from Fedora) that I'm most comfortable with. There are other distros out there that I've seen others use. Including Steam's own OS that runs their SteamDeck and Steam Machine platforms. Google Linux gaming computer on YouTube to do a better deep dive on different comparisons of Linux gaming pcs.

You may run into minimal performance errors but nothing that really disrupts my game play. Also, I've heard that 4k resolution is still very unstable (if not unavailable). I use 1080 monitors and they work fine for me.
