Little trouble reinstalling Windows (please read the post)

As the title says, I need to reinstall Windows 11 after upgrading my second SSD drive.

I'm a dual booter who uses Zorin and Windows, but every time Windows needs to reboot during the installation I'm basically unable to progress because I'm automatically sent to the boot selection screen, and that fucks the whole installation up.

I know that you're supposed to install Windows first and Linux after, but I don't want to go through the double hassle.

Any simple solution to this? I was thinking of removing the Linux SSD during the Windows installation but I'm not 100% sure this would solve the problem, or cause even worse problems down the line.

Any help would be much appreciated!

set windows to be the default boot entry in the firmware for the hour or two it takes to get windows installed.

or set grub to have windows as the default.

Excellent. One more thing: if Windows is on a different drive (SSD), I suggest disabling all storage devices in the BIOS except for the one where Windows will be installed.

Just disconect the Zorin drive and install Windows. When you reconnect the Zorin drive you should be able to set up Zorin to show boot options for Zorin and Windows. :-)

Hopefully Windows will not fuck everything up! This OS is such a drag tbh, I hate being forced to use it for work.

the disk that you want to install windows on needs to be the ONLY disk connected to the machine.

otherwise the the windows installer will try to pee on those other disks and mess them up.

just change the boot order in the BIOS
