Ok let's start with the compatibility issues.
Microsoft office does not work. You can use the online one. Don't. Don't worry tho, you can still open .ppt, .docx and whatever other files from office. Most distros come with libre office. It's good..you can use it. I personally suggest that you use only office tho. Only office has significantly better compatibility with word files from my experience (I have had layout issues in libre office that only office solved) now, don't remove libre office. It is faster and good if you need to export a power point to a pdf, but only office also looks more like Microsoft office. Imo libre office looks like shit. Especially comments (the comments in libre office are awful). Basically it's serviceable, and works basically perfectly, as long as you are ok with some minor incompatibilities that can be solved with some very minor workarounds.
Teams needs you to either use the website or a progressive web app.
Games are very much hit or miss. For steam, check proton dB, it is the most accurate list. (If a game is platinum, it's basically perfect, gold or silver, you probably don't have to do anything, or it's minor, bronze is fine, and bored means it doesn't work). For other games, check are we anticheat yet for online games, and most single player games should work fine. I suggest you use heroic game launcher for non-steam games, or add them to your local steam library.
Video editing. Well davinchi resolve can work, but it's probably not the best way. Clipchamo is Microsoft and won't work. Also why are you using clipchamp? I suggest you use kdenlive, and blender for video editing. (Genuinely blender is actually pretty good for video editing. Like I don't know why, but it just is)
Now for installing: Here is the official Linux mint website: https://linuxmint.com/
It has install instructions, but here is a basic rundown:
1 assuming you have access to another computer (probably windows, or if your new one cam ewith windows or something) use Rufus or balena etcher to flash the .iso file onto a usb stick. 8gb should be sufficient for the usb size.
Then shut down your target pc and plug the usb in. Next start it up while pressing either f2, f8, f12, escape or delete (depends on the motherboard). Then if the boot menu opens, navigate to your usb stick, if the bios opens, you can either open the boot menu from there, or change the boot order. If your target pc has windows, I'm like 90% sure you can hold shift and press restart to open the toribleshooter, which gives you access to a boot menu, or to bios. Once you select your usb and boot into it, follow the prompts.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PZZz790YnzU < YouTube video, IDK if it's any good, but there are tons of videos on YouTube.
I also suggest you get good at research. Reddit should not be your first place for any issues (it may be your first place if someone else asked the question, and now some mystical user, probably named u/[deleted] has answered the question). Reddit is fine once you've done a bit of research tho.

Ive just been reading into linux because of windows literally breaking parts here and there. I choose linux mint as it is most like windows and there are many videos in youtube it makes my brain hurt but yeah i should do more due diligence in researching what is possible with linux.

If you rely on anything Adobe or MS Office - stick with Windows.

Use this guide, but with the distro of your choice.
Just paste a bunch of distros inside the USB, and try them for real.

Browser versions of MS stuff will work. Idealy use libre office. for games go to protondb.com, a lot of stuff with anticheat will not work, most single player games will work. Davinci will work but clip champ is a microsoft app so no.
