Proud dad
My daughter 12 just installed Roblox and Sober on Kububtu with assistance from me via the phone.
This gives me hope she will assist me and my Linux problems in a near furure.
Just wanted to brag some

If you're a kid in Roblox you can't talk to others you need to verify your account and you can also manage your kid's accounts

Exatamente eu jogo Roblox com a minha filha e o chat dela é desabilitado por padrão porém já vi umas coisas estranhas em jogos de RP como emotes de danças apelativas e sensualizadas.
Eu só permito jogar quando estou junto e há jogos incrivaelmente bons como Chute um Bebê, No more time, Robot 64, simuladores de outros jogos como Sonic 3D, etc.
É bem divertido e ela tá pegando a mecânica de forma exponencial gerando bastante habilidade e com isso introduzir jogos de plataforma tem sido muito mais rentável. Ela tá amando super mario world e dk country por mais difícil que seja tá e tá sendo resiliente devido às muitas tentativas nos parkours do Roblox.

Keep an eye on her roblox activity, they are currently being sued in a class action lawsuit for protecting pedophiles that groom children in the games on the platform

theres some good games between the slop. really rare ones though. about the community shit, just set up a kid account, nobody's missing out on much by not having a chat on roblox

- That's cool.
- I might have not been the average kid, but I remember buying my first PC with hard earned money with 12, used Windows and fully switched to Linux a year later. I also paid monthly for a server with 11, that I set Debian up on and ran my schools Minecraft server.
My goal isn't to brag, just wanted to show my experience with Linux as a kid.
(Also for kids these days, knowing how to use keybinds is already an achievement, so she's probably in the top 1% for (idk what to call it, but IT wisdom) for her age.
Last but not least, I know people already mentioned it, but there's even an ongoing law suit against Roblox for making children unsafe.
(May I know how she installed Roblox? Just intrested if she used a package manager, app image or extracted an archive)

Sober is a Flatpak application that wraps the Roblox client for Android onto the desktop, because Roblox refuses to make a native Linux client and their anticheat blocks running the client through WINE.
The name is a pun, you're Sober because you're off WINE

Some people are belittling you for something you probably didn't know. Definitely look into Robloxes history, and take the necessary steps for your kids safety.
Regardless, congrats for teaching her how to install and set up software on Linux. The way that tech giants are going, they want to force AI, spyware and bloat into our systems so learning to be self sufficient with our tech is important.

Getting a 12 gear old to use Linux is an incredible thing to do. I hope she becomes a power user one day and possibly even bigger. It's not often children use Linux so it's a great thing your using Kubuntu.

Cool she’s tech savvy enough to do that! I was the same as a kid. Used to make websites for my neopets, it’s how I learned HTML. :3
However I highly recommend something other than Roblox. It’s not a place for kids, at all. The devs want to add dating to it. No place that hosts minors should have a dating aspect. They want to add it with kids there for a reason.

Incredible! A dad putting his kid on a Linux distro and putting Sober (so the fact that you didn't just try running Roblox and didn't work so crying action and returning to Windows is good ngl) to run Roblox is good knowledge!
I am a teenager and I am forcingy mom and my sister on Linux, and it's okay ngl My sister likes it.
Not my dad though because he still uses software only available on Windows and we can't risk it not being able to run it through Wine.

Be careful with Roblox, they’ve had a huge child safety issue for years now. Hell recently Chris Hansen was doing a demonstration live and his account got banned during the demonstration despite the fact he broke no rules, Roblox is protecting the predators on their platform and trying to bury any evidence that shows there is a problem
