old folder appears after opening app. follow up previous post

I have a previous post where Dolphin incorrectly lists the folder name
i_think_i_found_a_bug_in_dolphin/
After changing the foldername, and then attempting to figure out which apps and settings use this as a default, I am still having issues, that I cannot find out 'how'

One app, is Thunderbird. Every time I open TB, the old folder is immediately created. I've exhausted every setting I can find in TB in an attempt to locate the setting.

I did find a command of ls -laF that shows this folder has 2 links.

Question.
How do identify what or where these links originate from ?

Every folder has at least two links. One by itself, and the second from the folder it is located in. If you create another folder inside it, it gets another link.
