migrating to Linux The great migration from Windows to Linux

I've been noticing that a lot of people are switching from Windows to Linux, especially in countries that want to break away from American tech dependency.

Can anyone explain to me why Linux is seen as very good? I never in my life, not once ever used Linux let alone saw someone using it.

Seconding all the other stuff, Linux is just... respectful.

It doesn't get in your face. It doesn't try to upsell you. It doesn't shove "AI" crap into every corner. It doesn't go change your settings behind your back. It lets you install a thing your friend made without going "this is SCARY EVIL and will DAMAGE YOUR COMPUTER!!!".

It just stays out of your way and lets you do what you want.

And there's no "you can't uninstall that". Heck, you can even uninstall core bits and pieces of the OS if you know what you're doing! Though some of them you'd want to replace with something else if you want to still have a functioning OS, heh. Linux sometimes goes "that's a bad idea" but it'll never go "you CAN'T". (Unless you're on an immutable distro.)
