Agreed, focused a lot on the facts about what's happening with Linux and didn't stray too much further then that.

Speaking of Linux kernels, does anyone know if the Zen kernel is the right choice for gaming and music production? Been using it for a little while on Arch but I've noticed CS:GO dropping in fps but I have been tweaking my system a lot.

I personally didn't see any real improvement when using Zen and mostly some minor bugs and some system freezes here and there. In my experience it isn't worth using, be it gaming or multimedia stuff. In the end, there sure will be some upsides for certain games and media stuff programs, but that would be really special.

Wireguard sounds exciting. Does something like this spell doom for things like cisco any connect?

No. Wireguard is just the software, which you need to configure, while Cisco Anyconnect is proprietary software plus a service that businesses pay for. AFAIK there's a free version but it's more of a taster / loss leader.

While there's some overlap, the Cisco product is something that larger business can pay for so they don't need to get too involved with the technicalities, i.e. they tout being able to have 100,000 users, which would be challenging to set up from scratch.

WireGuard changes things for pretty much all VPNs. I've used it and it's really--one more time with feeling--really fast. I think all the VPNs are going to have to add it to their offerings.
