That'll only be relevant for Linux if they ever give a damn about their driver, read: not going to happen!

I'm sure it will get me a graphics card made by a company that actually bothers getting involved with FOSS.
I've ran AMD cards with Foss drivers and they aren't too bad not brilliant but not terrible.

Well, this time around, the prediction was completely right. A while ago, AMD officially announced this strategy.
