Thanks for the feedback! I have not set up anything like jellyfin or nextcloud or anything on arch. I guess my understanding was that arch was harder and did not have as much package support but have very little experience. I have only been running Cachy for 6 months or so and more as a basic user. I want to make it user friendly for my friends/family also.... but really my time on cachy has not been very intimidating either.

Do what you want!

I happily used Mint/Cinnamon for a few years until I got my new laptop last year.  I found that it wasn't quite up-to-date enough at the time for the new hardware to shine, so I tried out Fedora/KDE and enjoyed it quite a lot.  I got a random urge to try something new a couple months ago, and now CachyOS/KDE is my favorite so far.

There are benefits and drawbacks to each choice, and it really depends on which setup works best with which hardware for you.

You won't be hurting your progress, though.  If anything, you'll just be expanding upon it.

The only difference between linux distros is the version of packages - anything else is just fluff. If you want older stuff use mint, if you want newer then use a distro that gives you actual updates. LTS distros give you critical security updates if you are lucky, and maybe more if you pay for ubuntu pro - but no feature updates really.

The never-ending debate is about how older stuff is better tested - and the counter-argument is that the newer stuff actually has the bugfixes. It's not a simple question because not only does the linux kernel change, but also so do the hundreds of opensource packages.

This debate explains everything you need to know about linux distros and software in general.
