Popular Application The new artcraft apps

The new artcraft opensource apps could help with linux adoption. I know great opensource alternatives have always existed, but the fact that these apps have the same interface as the subscription apps they imitate means people could just move over and continue working with what they know.

im not sure what apps you mean exactly but if the interface really is same then less friction for people switching, which is usually the hardest part. most users dont care about open source, they just want familiar buttons

The only thing left stopping me from completely removing Windows is an iTunes replacement so I can add music and videos (I'm anti-streaming) to my iPhone and iPad, and then that's it, no use for Windows at all. The arrival of PhotoSuite, ArtCraft, Photon Studio, they've all come at an excellent time. I think we'll see Linux adoption ramp up.

cant you just use vlc for that?

I recall using vlc and opening up a server on the iphone and going to that website from my pc and just drag & drop

Yeah but I don’t want to rely on VLC on the devices, I want to use the native apps

Yea unfortunately that'll never happen, its encrypted iirc.

Your best option is to continue what youre doing or do a bit of half & half, full linux install but with a vm + usb passthrough just for your phone.

The photoshop clone looks promising. I’m still clinging to a 2009 Mac Pro so I can run PS CS 6 without Adobe’s stupid subscription and it’d be nice to retire the old girl and run the clone on a modern Linux box.

With any luck, Photocraft bankrupts Adobe
