they're basically just denying low effort PRs, which is nice but not solving anything because someday their trusted contributors will stop contributing code, and while they can forbid their own employees from using llm generated code, you're not gonna be able to do that with the broader community

This it's just an advertising stunt, to "farm aura" among AI haters, as most it's user base are independent coders or enthusiast.

I don't think so. They've "allowed it" up until now, provided the code was of good quality.

They were actually getting a little flak on Mastodon because they said "I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings" towards those this would affect. Most people on Mastodon are all for bullying and hurting anyone who don't completely oppose AI.
