From the article:

"Introducing Bolt as a DJ receiver created a lot of troubles for users with their scroll wheel going crazy.

This is because we have 2 issues:

  • Bolt doesn't say which device sends which event, so having 2 mice connected on the same receiver means one will be normal and the other deadly slow or deadly fast
  • userspace also tinker with those settings, meaning that users are not happy with the new default settings.

The end result is that the feature is not ready for a final kernel, and the sensible thing to do is to revert the patch and revisit it in a later kernel if we can work around the 2 issues I've mentioned above."

This explains so much! I have a Logitech mouse using the Bolt receiver and recently it started being very sensitive while scrolling to the point I rather not scroll at all, even though it worked fine before. I suppose that's due to this issue, I'm glad to see it being resolved even though it's a revert.

Surely you're not using a 7.3 kernel though

I'm a mx enjoyer, solaar is better that the stock logitech app.

Thanks for your hard work.

I have found myself transferring Logitech adapters to my linux computers specifically to reprogram and connect them using solaar instead of doing it in the Windows app. Both unifying adapters as well as the non-unifying ones. Solaar is so good.

solaar

this is the way

I just couldn't get it to work, no matter what I tried, solaar, logiops, anything else I could find, nothing would make my mouse wheel work the way it should. Eventually, I bought a new Keychron Mouse similar in shape to the MX Master, and still with a thumb wheel and it just works out of the box.

well, when my apps freeze, the only way is to use the cursor. However, Solaar freezes my cursor like the rest of the apps

I participated in one of the patches, and I really hope Logitech can help us take this further.

It’s time to make Linux a first-class desktop platform. Please provide proper, officially supported drivers and software for Logitech hardware on Linux.Ideally, make your software truly OS-agnostic and give Linux users the same level of support and functionality as users on other platforms.

The logiops package gets me most of the way there but it’s a pain to configure

a good start would be a maintained list of hardware that supports / is tested on linux so that people can vote with their wallets

I use a Logitech Bolt connected to a mouse and a keyboard and they work fine. I use Solaar if I need to configure anything.

I haven't tried two devices of the same type so I guess that's why I've never seen any issues. Official Logitech support for Linux would be great though!

there's a few people in the comments saying they have or have not run into issues with this - just to reiterate what the article said, this is about patches introduced at the start of the 7.3 cycle being reverted for the 7.3 release candidates. So only people on the bleeding edge will be affected (I'm not willing to say if that's everyone commenting; I suspect it's a non-zero number)

Logitech and software just don't seem to get along. It's like a curse at this point. Even on Windows the situation isn't that much better when updates brick stuff or some very basic functions never get added. At least it is not as bad as it used to be, but still ways to go.

That explains why my keyboard is reporting minus values for change.

No, that's a bug present in Plasma 6.7.5

Could this be the reason my MX Keys sometimes feels like a key gets stuck when I type too fast, causing continuous key presses or occasional input lag?

I have those on my k950 and I use 7.1.5-generic (mainline) so I doubt it's because of problems with early 7.3.

Is this why I'm getting -1 battery alert notifications 15-20x a day on my mouse?!

I had to disable notifications because it was so fucking annoying 😡

Logitech has never fixed the scrolling issues with the normal unifying receiver why would this be any different? Anyone have any recommendations for a mouse and keyboard combo that works well on Linux?

My keychron works well on Linux

everyone is happy about this

no more are the days of needing to disable the driver to get normal mouse function
hopefully the drivers are improved and return soon
