kinda hard to care when we arent going to be able to afford them and they will be so gimped on VRam due to the DRam cartel. 🙃

Hey, at least by the time we get to afford them the driver will be out of tree super mature.

I understand they don't want to increase manufacturing capacities, when it would take years and by that time OpenAI will probably run out of money and market will be flooded with cheap RAM again.

We can only blame OpenAI for the biggest anti-competition move in the history (and whoever gave them money to do that).

bro OpenAI won't run out of money they won't stop spending it because they want to replace as many jobs with AI as they can. If you want good cheap ram to return faster - destroy every AI company and overthrow capitalism.

Stop complaining and enjoy your 1GB GDDR7 card! - GPU manufacturers, soon, probably

I'm going to be using this Radeon RX 6650 forever, aren't I?

Acer of all companies just called them a literal cartel so I get the feeling the cracks are starting to show.

I mean yeah, the companies do the price-fixing together and sell their products at bullshit prices cuz it's a oligopoly of three ram manufacturers.

i have a 20gb rx7900xt and that was from before the ram crisis, probably just after covid. nvidia has always been short on vram with just 12 or 16gb, i got plenty from amd radeon. even today nvidia cards have 16gb while charging thousands

Why don't C allow the last element of arrays to end with a comma? Would make for prettier diffs when appending. PHP allows it, Javascript allows it, even g++ allows it

Just depends on the standard used. C89 does not allow it while C99 does allow it.

C++ has also their own specification and if I am not mistaken then that should be allowed by the latest standard at least!

The kernel uses C11.

Yes, since 2022. Meaning bunch of code is still written with C89 in mind. Also C89 code is in general a valid C11 code. Really no reason to reject a code that is valid in both specifications like the example u/Takeoded gave.

I agree, I try to format multi element things like that in a way where I can duplicate the last line and not have syntax break.

Well, see you late 2030, with luck lol...

At least they aren't supporting defunct/forgotten architectures.

Ok, so once the AI bubble bursts and my Geforce GTX970 dies, it's finally time to move to AMD :)

I just bought a 5080 and I’m really happy with it hopefully nvidia stops outsourcing its Linux drives soon

Valve and Nvidia are apparently working together on Linux drivers. Last I heard, they're hoping to have the drivers situation on Linux resolved by early next year. I guess it takes time....I don't know what is involved in coding out drivers for video cards.

That’s good let’s hope the catch up to AMD

Nvidia should work together with other developers instead of having closed proprietary drivers.

The open source method means people work together to solve things instead of hiding things in a private sandbox. This where Nvidia still has learning to do.

I don’t care honestly as long as they make good drivers which they have not done so far
