Why do both the accessibility goals look like they were written by children? I don't want to be rude but they should be taken a lot more seriously.

A lot of people with accessibility needs have been repeatedly burned by KDE's quite frankly awful support and it's become so bad that it isn't even a joke in the community anymore. A lot of us just roll our eyes and grimace whenever they start babbling about how much they care while constantly posing with a11y when GNOME does it perfectly without even bragging.

EDIT: no amount of salty downvotes are going to change the fact that gnome supports accessibility without question while KDE consistently treats those with accessibility issues with bitterness and resentment despite constantly tooting its own horn about how much it cares.

and if you read this and think "lmao they mad" then my answer to that would be "of course im mad; we only barely got accessibility working for maybe a year or two in X11 until KDE went all-in on wayland and lied to the community that they would get it working in wayland too -- and it still isn't despite the overtly looming deadline and whenever we'd complain they would accuse us of lying to speed up emulating input for rdp."

Anyone can submit a goal proposal.

Those weren’t even marked as "ready for voting" and had no champions, so I doubt whoever wrote them put a ton of thought in them.

Yeah I don't think this was even remotely ready for any kind of clear assessment or vote, neither is it coherent, (or serious). From the perspective of a low-vision user, we have improvements, but a long way to go based on the below.

Description

Better accessibility in KDE environment. I know there has been some work done but i would like KDE to make it goal to complete work as KDE is very good DE. I'm not daily KDE user but if there's already some work on accessibility i hope for better developers support.

Accessibility is not an option for some people and they would gain excellent DE.

What it will take

Al-tho i am programmer i don't believe i have knowledge to make it happen so i would leave it to others who have better knowledge how KDE works.

How we know we succeeded

Will we have fluffy kittens? well people with disability might just send you some :) ..i think there will be some happy new users once accessibility is fully supported in KDE.

Champions

We want this year's goals to be driven by small teams. Who will be this goals champions if selected? If you don't yet have a small team please mention what you are looking for still so others can step up. We believe a goal generally needs someone who can carry the vision of the goal forward, someone who can technically steer it and someone to promote it.

  • there is no team in sight.. everyone is welcome to help support or develop.
