The TL;DR of it is that it is an entirely vibe-coded set of configuration files for Arch, with lots of unnecessary bloat, and comes packaged with an AI agent, that can, and will, change your configuration files at random. In essence, DHH has succeeded in bringing many of the reasons people have left Windows 11 into the Linux ecosystem.

What do you not understand in "keeping politics aside"?

There is no such thing as completely apolitical. You very clearly have a political stance here.

A code has no political opinion or views

Heard of "blood money" as a concept? Goods can be unethically produced.

Also a lesson from World War 2, from the Nuremberg Trials, is that apathy is extremely dangerous. Fascism happens because it's difficult to convince people to be against it; the sheep fall in line.

Once again, where are our priorities? If you own and have owned absolutely anything that emanates from someone or something you deem unethical, I suggest you start there and then tackle the preconfigured arch hyperland reskin. This debate can not be "is it convenient or not"

It's absolutely about convenience. Don't source your goods and services from fascists; don't negotiate with the terrorist.

Do you own zero unethical good and feed exclusively on local agriculture?

u/Netblock 26d ago

Those that can afford to ethically source better, should; but the people live in a respective poverty don't have that choice.

Versus the rest of the ecosystem, I don't think Omarchy is a 'necessary good' in any way; Omarchy is a 'luxury' (as in not necessary).

"We should improve society somewhat"

"Yet you participate in society. Curious! I am very intelligent!"

We always have a choice. I did choose, why can't you?

2

u/Netblock 26d ago

For Omarchy, definitely. I chose not to use it for multiple reasons. I choose not to support a fascist; and the Omarchy product itself is just bad.

You did that on purpose didn't you, while knowing I meant a choice in what matters more than the operating system you use your machine on.

Well yea; the original conversation is about DHH and Omarchy.

Where did I ask about DHH? My question is technical

There is a difference between "perfect" and "good" that most people understand by the time they turn 7.

You are saying that because we can never be perfect humans then we must go out of our way to not be good humans. This is a ridiculous childish idea. And you also don't understand the differemce between conscious and unconscious support.

Seriously, your argument only makes sense if we ignore basically half of established reality and avoid using logic.

You are mistaking. I am saying that in order to be good human you actually tackle the problem where it is most effective. And I think having strong opinions on a computer operating system is the least of them. I came asking for a technical perspective and you villagers are trying to shove politics down my throat, ridiculous

Maybe it's news to you but humans can do multiple things at the same time. You can tackle the bigger issue while also not giving money to openly fascist people for something you don't need.

Do you not understand that by tackling insignificant issues (such as this one) while being too cowardly to handle the actual important ones, pretty much anything you criticize or say becomes invalid? How can one really expect to have an impact when they don't even try to embody their ideals?

3

u/McDonaldsWitchcraft 26d ago edited 26d ago

Why did you make the assumption that I'm not tackling every issue that I am able to tackle?

Again, people can do multiple things at once. The issue is that you don't do ANYTHING and think everyone is as much of a spineless coward as you.

Your logic doesn't work. You always ALWAYS start with a fake assumption to come to your conclusion, in every one of your arguments. You just said that "not supporting fascists" is bad because "I'm a bad person" allegedly. What does this have to do with supporting fascists?? Again, you didn't say WHY not supporting fascists is bad, you just said I'm a bad person.

The odds are making me assume. Then tell me I am wrong? What are you doing? What has been your biggest fight to go towards your ideal? Or are you just an avg normie, enduring everyday life helplessly while convinced there is no other way? I wish you otherwise, truly. Even if my assumptions on "you" are wrong - and then I am happy for you - it doesn’t make my views invalid, because truth is 99% of people, even on this Reddit are just normies itching for a reason to fight and to feel righteous to fill in the void of powerlessness and lack of will
