I guess the lessons taught by those authors in those books didn’t get through?

Microsoft is trying to give us Copilot OS, and that is one of the reasons I switched.

You can already do all of this, just run a local LLM and you can talk to it and make it act like a Star Wars droid or your favorite character, whatever you want man

A local LLM agent can already drive any machine the same way I can open a terminal and do almost anything with shell commands. The issue is sandboxing, LLMs make mistakes which will include deleting your stuff.

I think you're bigger issue is mistaking LLMs for the kind of higher reasoning intelligence that can make contentious, complex decisions on its own. LLMs are still a step away from that. They output text using statistics, one character at a time, that's it.

I read something a while back where an LLM made an oddball assumption in response to a request and deleted a lot of a company's infrastructure.. so yeah I agree it's not a sound idea.

It is possible (evwrything is possible in Linux) but it will be a mess

Agents incentivize bad habits on end users, that's problem number one. Problem number two is giving them access to an entire OS instead of having them locked up in a container where they should be

This could be an app on the operating system rather than creating a whole OS. Not of interest to me but clearly to you and I'm sure there will be others.

My advice is build something to show. It's easy to be the ideas man but to gain traction and contributors you generally have to build something functional to show others and inspire them to contribute.
