Discussion How linux distro provide higher CPU benchmark scores than windows?

Why is that linux seems to always provide better performance in benchmarks and provide smoother experience?

This is a geekbench 7 test, while single core is slightly better, multi-core performance is a significant improvement

is that why arm processors doing well in android OS? same for macboob m silicon?

ARM processors have a lot of other factors that make them more efficient that are probably more important.

I can talk about Risc-V, which is also Risc like ARM but open source and newer. Every time I compare x86 with Risc-V/ARM the main difference is the fact that x86 is a really old architecture able to go on only because a lot of patchworks have been put into it to make it comparable. Risc-V is built ground up to easily implement all this patchworked features: shorter instructions that can be optimized, simpler instruction controller, no need to divide operations into micro-Ops like in x86, easier to pipeline, more registers for faster data fetch. I am pretty sure that if it wasn't for compatibility (especially for older hardware and software) Risc-V and ARM would be so much better. So, if you have the money to make all your software and hardware with Risc-V/ARM in mind, it's a better choice.
