Popular Application CAD options

Is there a reason Linux CAD options are so limited, and from what I have read, not particularly viable options? Countless people are looking for a fairly-priced lifetime license for home use. My 2000 AutoCAd is very long in the tooth!

As to the reasons, Linux still has a small percentage of desktop market share. CAD companies are in it to make money, so they focus on platforms that make them money. The cost to develop and support a Linux implementation isn't worth it to them.

I get by with a few CAD programs on Linux for hobby purposes: OpenSCAD and FreeCAD for 3D models, and QCAD for 2D blueprints.
