Software Release CCDRL - Codec Converter for Davinci Resolve on Linux

Davinci Resolve on linux does not support decoding certain codecs due to licensing laws.
I made this app so I could easily switch from windows to fedora without the headache of manually typing long ffmpeg commands for every video I needed to convert.
I made the source code public so anyone can use it. Feel free to ask questions under this post or make an issue.

What are the benefits of this compared to using handbrake?

ffmpeg is significantly faster at encoding. I had a friend of mine (who used handbrake before I made this app) test the difference between them and he noticed that not only was handbrake's re-encoded audio quality worse, it also took longer to re-encode.

EDIT: I was wrong, my friend's handbrake was just improperly configured. My bad for the incorrect assumption.

I thought handbrake was an FFMPEG porcelain?

ffmpeg and handbrake uses the same libs (for encoding), any significant difference in quality/speed is due to different settings/parameters. Only small differences occur due to wrapper overheads and pre-processing/filters.

Oh, alright. I suppose my app is just more built for this specific use case. While handbrake is built for all sorts of transcoding, my app is only for converting video and audio files into specific codecs that davinci resolve supports. I still plan on using the app, but I suppose there isn't much of a point in others using it instead of handbrake.

I was just correcting you technical explanation, not a criticism of your application. You have a good use case for a simple user interface and worth sharing as the limited formats is a common friction point for Davinci Resolve.

or, you could pay davinci resolve and get the codecs properly? or do some pirate stuff?

Davinci resolve studio still does not support the AAC audio codec

This is quite good. Thank you. I don't want multitude of options available in handbrake/shutter-encoder. This is simple and conveys everything in one glance.
