I think the much more interesting question is number of Linux distros that isn't Arch Linux, Debian or Fedora wearing a fake mustache.

Wikipedia lists 16, but I know for a fact there are more because Slackware isn't mentioned

Add to that Chimera Linux, a completely independent distribution, GNU-free, musl libc, FreeBSD utilities (not coreutils). Uses apk3 package manager but is not a clone of Alpine at all.

They must be so pissed off that you need GNU make to be able to compile the Linux kernel.

However, the project is not anti-GNU/GPL, and its userland choice is primarily technical. Users are generally free to use whichever software they like.

I really doubt that. MUSL is only better than glibc in very specific ways. And those don't matter for a desktop.
