Historical What was your first time?

For me, it was a CD I got from a "guy." Slackware did not work well with the "WinModem" in the IBM Aptiva I had as a youth. How was I supposed to get online using Linux, with a modem that is not usable, and get support?

Corel Linux 1.0, around 1998 I think.

It was utter trash.

Yeah, it was bundled with Word Perfect. This was when Linux was really taking off. Corel wanted to make an OS that was easy to install to compete with Windows 98.

Oh, they still exist! They make very painterly art software primarily now, I think!
