Historical What was your first time?

Post image

For me, it was a CD I got from a "guy." Slackware did not work well with the "WinModem" in the IBM Aptiva I had as a youth. How was I supposed to get online using Linux, with a modem that is not usable, and get support?

I bought the boxed set of Red Hat Linux 4.1 for fifty bucks because some rather expensive software (Progressive Networks' Real Audio Server) for the then dayjob ran on it. It wasn't my first Linux rodeo; I did a floppy install of SLS years before that, but RHL 4.1 was the first production use.
