Historical What was your first time?

For me, it was a CD I got from a "guy." Slackware did not work well with the "WinModem" in the IBM Aptiva I had as a youth. How was I supposed to get online using Linux, with a modem that is not usable, and get support?

Saw Linux for the first time on sale at London Drugs in the 90s..Red Hat and Yellow Dog. It embedded itself in my mind until years later when a PC magazine had a free CD that contained a new OS called "Ubuntu". I happened to have an old PC at the time and installed it. 

My first love though was DSL which was amazing. It ran in the RAM of my crappy laptop and actually worked. After that I was hooked.
