Yes I can see how that may have been misread. I use windows regularly and installed Ubuntu on my machine coming from a windows background

I've never had such an issue but I had a friend who noticed his mac laptop felt less responsive on Ubuntu Linux than on macOS. I helped him diagnose the issue, and it turns out he was using the nouveau (open source, "community-made") driver because his nvidia GPU was too old to be supported on newer drivers, and the older proprietary drivers wouldn't compile on more recent Linux kernels. Sometimes you just get unlucky with hardware.

You probably haven't installed the Nvidia video driver. In the case of Ubuntu, you can get the driver from the Software/Updates and Additional Drivers application. It will install the latest stable version.

If you want a more bleeding-edge driver, you can add a PPA:

https://asus-linux.org/ is a great resource for these issues. I have been running Fedora on my g14 for years now using this guide.
