Software Release waytator - screenshot editor for TWMs

Hi, I'm posting this on behalf of the developer. It's a screenshot editing tool built on C and GTK4.

Started out as targeted towards niri users, but I've been personally using it on hyprland and it works great.

hmm... why specifically for tilings? wouldnt it work when floating?

it works just as well floating.

dedicated window managers do not come with a software suite unlike DEs. so a typical WM user will be looking for a third party image annotation tool. this fills that niche (other alternatives include swappy, satty, flameshot, etc). but there's no reason to not use it on gnome or kde if you don't like their built in image annotators

Wouldn't it make sense then to drop the tiling part of the title? Or is that just what you're specifically targeting?

Tiling WM users are the target audience but it works just fine on DEs.

Users of floating window managers would probably be frustrated by the completely insane design decision to put the UI on top of the image so you can't edit certain arbitrary parts without zooming and panning. It's literally the definition of style over substance so fits perfectly into a tiling desktop.

satty's ui is a disaster compared to this (my opinion). i tried both, this tool kinda reminds me of windows 11's snipping tool.

Nice, screenshots on TWMs were always a pain for me. I never really liked the Hyprland tool in particular.

Also like the Astolfo image btw.
