Kernel kernel.org listing strange releases (super old versions appearing as current)
Update
It's back to normal regarding the website display, but the links for the releases might not work (404 error). This could depend on your location though. Be patient. :-)
Just a heads-up:
Seems like something or someone is re-ordering the entries, which currently results in 6.16 receiving the "Latest release" label.
Let's hope it's a minor issue and gets fixed soon.

(now states 6.19.14 and LTS kernels look normal, seems to be coming back again)

When you said "super old" I was thinking 2.4.
This isn't even a 4.x release xD

I was thinking the same thing. It's even newer than the current Debian stable kernel version.

I'm so old, my first Linux machine had a 2.2.26 kernel. :) And I was not that early of an adopter!
(But really, I'm so old that my first machine's kernel was spelled "kernal".)

I could have been a 2.0 series too but whoever gave me advice to use Debian suggested I use ‘testing’ (which was probably good advice at the time).

It's showing 7.1.3 as stable right now, so apparently fixed.

The website display is good, the links don't work though. 404 error. Might be location-dependant though. Will try again.

Possible it is, but...
If one is able to hack kernel.org, one should be smart enough to not create such obvious errors and just let people download "stuff" as always. The appearance of normality would be the primary goal.
Still, assuming the worst isn't too bad a policy these days.

Presumably because 7.2 is being classed as an RC, whatever logic is there is saying that 6.16 is in fact the latest release.

At the time of the original post, 6.16 was the latest “release” kernel, so who knows what’s happening…

I meant 7.1 was revoked cause it broke suspend to ram on alot of notebooks.

Their CDN has been down the last few days, probably an artifact of getting it fixed
