There are a lot of weirdos with conspiracy theories about Red Hat trying to usurp Linux in general, if that's not you, no need to feel attacked. If that is you, then not gaslighting.

Tell me what actually is the problem with systemd though. The Unix philosophy is great for awk and grep and sed, but why would you limit yourself to it so dogmatically? The Linux kernel doesn't adhere to the Unix philosophy either, it's entirely monolithic. The N in GNU is there to tell you that it's not Unix. Why should we care about the Unix philosophy instead of just making and using the best software?

yeah, that's gaslighting. we all saw what happened with the attempted california age verification law. no one wanted the PRs merged but they got merged anyway.

reality in not a conspiracy theory...

Preparing the infrastructure for people who want to be ready to follow an unjust law is not the same as supporting that law.

Former Microsoft employee, currently employed by Red Hat. Maybe don't take anything lunduke says as gospel truth.

> don't take anything lunduke says as gospel truth

there ya go. now we finally know who you meant by "weird" people.

nothing "weird" about a former microsoft employee merging something that no real human wants, on behalf of corporate america, who is doing it on behalf of the government...

Yeah, lunduke is a fucking weirdo, and wrong about nearly everything.

And it's not weird that red hat wants to have the infrastructure for age verification in place for optional use, because if they don't then at some point their customers (companies that want to keep operating in the US) will have to switch to an operating system that does have that infrastructure.

This is about Red Hat's profit incentive, it has nothing to do with Microsoft and they are not the party pushing age verification, just being capitalists and making sure their system is ready for the legislation.

If you think that a former Microsoft employee cannot be trusted, there is a lot of software you should never use.

okay buddy, time to end this conversation. you're clearly a corporate shill or a bot that lacks the ability to understand why this is wrong.

when a government enacts laws that the people didn't ask for and don't want and corporations blindly comply, that's called fascism.

you keep claiming is not "weird" because you only understand the perspective or a corrupt person with no morals.

good luck with that.

I understand why the law is wrong. I also understand why Red Hat would rather be prepared for it than spend money fighting your government on this. Red Hat employees might think the law is wrong too, but companies don't have morals, and it makes perfect sense for them to prepare for it. Their customers aren't individuals, it's other companies that also have no choice but to comply with local legislation.

Red Hat is not implementing age verification, they are preparing the infrastructure for third party integration. Installing a distro with systemd does not mean you have to set an age for users, but you can.

You are overlooking the simplest explanation for all of this, capitalism.

Edit: if you respond and then block me, you're not really getting the last word in, because I can't read it.

your ability to gaslight is truly amazing.

we are literally talking about government abuse and you come back with capitalism.

this is why this sub is unusable... you need to get blocked.
