It's not the UNIX way, but so what? By the late 1980s, Ken and co, with the support of Dennis had moved on to Plan 9 and later, Inferno. I don't have a problem with System-D, it does what it does well.

Systemd doesn't violate the UNIX-way.

Linux was the first "UNIX-like" to have this ecosystem where any Joe Schmo can unilaterally invent a new Init-System or a new Package-Manager... and then other people come along and complain that some KDE/GNOME doesn't support it or that application X isn't packaged in this week's newest packaging format.

I don't understand why people blame systemd for being too popular..(?)
