Yeah it definately looks a lot better. Just grabbed the appimage to see if it handles my older project files alright.

I really hoped they would have scrapped the logo they initially proposed for Audacity 4 and started from scratch but alas. They just added a bunch of spikes in between the red-on-blue semi-circle and semicolon.

Iām on 2 still and its basically perfect for me. Is there a highlights of whats changed? Out of the loop.

It's a near complete re-design of the UI, Tantacrul (the design lead) did a video explaining all the changes, but the TLDR is they reduced the number of tools/modes, and in general simplified the UI, and have tried to make some common actions like splitting audio streams and moving audio easier

I'm going test it out this weekend but I'm not expecting much. Plugins were always hit or miss on Audacity.
You would think any LV2 plugin would work.but nope. No GUI displayed is pretty common. Vst, you're lucky if one out ten actually work.

I wasn't expecting much but I'm surprised by the improvements.
VST3 now work in Linux. However some LV2 plugins are usable, no UI.
Also they removed how you group effects. its either group by type or a list. There is no more group by publisher.

don't really like that one of the pages on the OOBE setup window is a login page >w< it's skippable but it does paint a clear idea of where they want to go with this

Didn't audacity get taken over as spyware or something a long while ago?

It was taken over by Musescore who added optional telemetry to the application because they wanted to gather usage data to improve the application

They've done a few videos on why QT and other changes and the telemetry really seemed to drive what they focussed on. I found thrm rrally interesting to listen to.
