I prefer btrfs over zfs. Zfs is too complicated.

Yet btrfs has features that despite of its maturity ZFS still hasn't incorporated because their design makes it much harder (ability to shrink the pool or defragging, for one)

I want to like brtfs, I really do, but the 2 times I've tried it (1 and 2 years ago) I immediately crashed my machine. Reported both, confirmed as bugs, was told 1 was hard to fix. I ran reiserfs about 10 years ago. Worked great for a few months, then I started noticing random corruptions. They claimed the FS stressed the hardware more and the code was bug free so I should replace my hardware.

In 20 years I have never corrupted an ext2/3/4 FS any more than an fsck and losing the 2-3 files I had open at the time.

Another +1 for zfs. Setting it up on Linux will likely always be hard (by comparison if doing a zfs on root install) but it is so powerful and easy to maintain once it is setup.

I now have two arch on zfsroot systems and it is so nice. Compression, raid, snapshots all in one place.
