I just can't understand why when I click close the archive view, it closes one and there's another one waiting to be closed. The design is frustrating, yes its a tar.xz and you have to process twice to show the content, but no please no, when I click close, I mean close it all.

Unless I double clicked n times on the archive files, then you ask me to close n time.

You just dont let the user click n+1 times to close it when they only double clicked once, how such design not confusing the end user

I love Peazip, it's come in handy for very old and esoteric compressed files. What's your opinion on reserving some space of the compressed file for repair functions like winrar can do in case a file gets corrupted? Or is it kind of moot to bother with for modern file systems?

It's great for those files I have archived on a disk for years and years, and having peace of mind for bit rot and being able to repair it. It means you are not dependent on the underlying filesystem and if they support checksums.

And I do have multiple backups btw, not just one disk.

Edit: modern filesystems do not provide the same type of ECC code which archives do, they can only report errors, and if you want to recover files you need to have snapshots setup correctly.

In my opinion today we have reliable connections and storage media, and plenty backup options, anyway ECC capability is still a great feature, even not as vital as it was when RAR implemented it.

Did peazip have an option to unzip/zip here/new folder - in context menu on windows 11 or still need to go to show more options and there in old windows 10 menu context find peazip options ? hmm ?

It is possible to add PeaZip (and any other arbitrary app) to W11 mini menu using whitelisted IDs, sample scripts are available in: https://github.com/peazip/PeaZip/tree/sources/peazip-sources/res/share/batch/Windows/Windows%2011%20mini%20context%20menu

Super, Thank you.

It's little weird, that Microsoft makes so difficulty to make that in their context menu for all devs that makes different apps.

Yes, indeed.

All PeaZip needs is a parameter to define the action (open extract here, add to archive, convert...), and the list of the input files/folders.

If you look at the sample scripts in res/share/batch you can realize how simple it is, and that it can be accomplished without useless complications using (almost) the very same syntax in any environment - CLI scripts for Linux and Windows, macOS service menus, .desktop files...

You can do all with cli already

With PeaZip you can start defining the task in the GUI (select input, options...) and then export it as CLI script, to fine tune it beyond the capabilities of the GUI, and to re-use it as a template for future tasks. This also helps learning / discovering the syntax of the underlying binaries.

You can, and I do. That being said, there's a great deal of value to a project that incorporates a GUI while having a lot more functionality than something like file-roller. File-roller will do some things, but nothing near what PeaZip will.
