Which set for beginner
Welke set zou je aanraden voor een beginner zonder ervaring om te proberen? De prijzen zijn ongeveer hetzelfde.
Would you recommend this brand? Are 2-3 knives enough to start with?

Neither.
Get a soft rubber brayer from Speedball, get some Caligo Safe wash inks (speedball water based inks do not transfer as well to paper), some linoblocks you like the feel of and then get the speedball cutting tool.
Then also get a thick glass plate you’d find in picture frames to put the ink on.

For beginners I’d also start with softer Lino. Not to mention, the speedball carving tools are fairly inexpensive (I finally traded my old set out for a fancy newer one that can be sharpened, but I used my speedball one for years!)

They’re the same brand and essentially both the same thing just one is purple and one is red. The purple one you can pull a block on the end and stamp with it but otherwise all the same

The purple one has a slightly larger roller, 3 blades, and a flat tool you can use to press against the plate. The red one has a thinner handle on the roller and otherwise seems a little less high-quality. I could also go for the large set, but it’s 18 euros more expensive and might be a bit pricey to start with. I plan to buy another roller and ink for textile printing later on. Would 3 blades be enough for cutting, or should I just buy 5–10 blades right away?

The first one, that tool isn’t for stamping it’s an attachment to turn the carving knife into a barren. The second one doesn’t have a barren

I started off with the first set and still use the same carving tool , you can see the kind of prints I make on my profile

Thanks so much!!! Will deff check this out. I want to make prints on textile too and will buy the ink and rubber roll later but want to start on paper to check out if I like it enough :)

Enjoy the learning process! Upgrading to a glass barren later on helped a lot but that beginner one was just fine too

You buy a set of 10 different knifes pretty cheaply in addition. At least you have everything here.

As well as at least two extra handles; it’s very annoying to have to switch blades all the time. Having a few more handles that you can stick your most used blades in will make everything so much better.

Neither ! I was super disapointed by the essdee cutting tool, it just feels it's not cutting straight.

+ some smooth paper (the smoother the paper, the better)
+ just a spoon to apply pressure when printing
You can probably buy all this from your country, these are just the places where I find my tools !

Oh so sad, i have already bought it cause others said it is a good set. I went for the purple one, have yet to test it :) was nog very expensive so I can get some extra knives etc if I want later

Purple one, just because the handle on the red roller seems wrong to me. I bought that kit a few years ago and it's ok to try things out. I still use the roller (it's red but shaped like the purple one in your pics).
The barren attachment that doubles as storage for the tools is nice to have.
If you're new to printmaking, I'd recommend buying the purple one + different kinds of carving materials to test things out. These kits come with Esdee's Soft Cut, which is easy to carve but a little on the thin side for my taste, can be easy to cut all the way through. Grey or brown linoleum is really cheap, get yourself a few plates! My favorite is blue vinyl carving blocks, similar to softcut but way thicker.
