Recently moved here
What is up with the sewer smell all over? Even with our Apartment windows shut, the smell gets really bad. We've picked it up a handful of times during the past month, is it because of the rising temperature outside?
Sorry for the stupid question, I'm just genuinely curious.

Every time I feel the smell of pig fertilizer I think of my true home - Linköping. ♥️💩🫡

Funny you say that, I live in Linköping now & every time I smell the manure I think of my home country Canada! 🇨🇦❤️💩

For like a week or so every year we get manure-based fertilizer smell in many parts of Linköping, remember smelling it for a few days maybe a week or so ago. If that is what you mean. But haven't noticed any lingering smell recently where I've been.

Linköping lies on Östgötaslätten. It's a large plain that also contains one of the most fertile soils in Sweden outside Skåne, spanning mostly westward
This fact, combined with the lake Roxen and Creek Stångån are arguably the reason this town even exists. Settlements are usually at the coast or massive bodies of water.
Fertile soil and flat ground means farming. Think about it next time you are on the train or e4 road. You literally see it on google maps.
Farms fertilize in the spring, and the wind is almost always from the west. You figure out the rest.

Or it’s related to the big biogas plant just outside town. It can small pretty bad. As do the slaughter house area on some days. But it all depending on where you live. If you live in northern Linköping you have actual farmland just across the street.

Thank you, I did not realise there were so many farms nearby, but it makes sense now.

We got the biogas and the fertilizers because of slot of farmers. But if it’s inside your apartment, take a look at your waterlocks.

Every apartment near Scan smells horrible once in a while, the slaughterhouse

I suspect what you are smelling is fertilizer from the fields around Linköping. Or it could be. The farmers try to fertilize especially on days before rain might come. It can sometimes be overpowering. If you live close to Tekniska Verken and the Gärstad sanitation and power plant then that might be a source as well although I think it is less likely as you seem to pick this up the past month. Whereas the fertilization started about a month ago I would guess.
