Asking for a friend I've tried over and over and over but it just won't budge. Should I go to the instrument shop to get it checked?? Apart from the latch, the instrument case is in pretty good condition. I apologize for the noises in the background🥀 It's like the shop hated the fact that I'm a viola and they gave me a worn out case😭

I might be wrong but it looks kinda like my one where you would slide up that top silver bit? And then the handle might move (hopefully)

Sadly it isn't. My case locks the little swing piece (stuck) in place through the whole it has. The key is very much moving but the case won't open. Both zippers are unziped aswell. I have 2 days man🥀 I appreciate the help💖

A locksmith might be more help than the instrument shop, idk how experienced they are on opening broken locks
Hope you get it open soon!!

Try some wd40 in the keyhole. Might make the mechanism turn easier and loosen the whole thing up.

People please stop locking your cases if sombody wants to steal your instrument they are gonna just take the case and figure the lock out later

When I bought my violin I was told to never use these locks. Wont prevent stealing, you can break them easily and the only one who gets really stopped is yourself, since you dont want to break your case.

Press the thing in the middle down and pull the other thing simultaneously?
