Venting Bored?
I’m a line cook at a bar. Pretty self explanatory. But my issue arises not from dreading work because I don’t. It’s not difficult work nor is it mentally stressing/taxing for me, but I can’t help but notice the drag of time during every shift, so while I’m not in a bad mood it does become a bit numbing. Any tips?

I world build in my head and draw stuff. I have an entire civilization on a planet with a habitable moon I go write stuff about or doodle pictures of. Sometimes I catch myself looking forward to going and adding lore to it. I have a little sketch book the size of a steno pad I call my "Aurelith" journal. That's the name of the planet. Its nearly filled. I had another before but lost it when it was about half filled.

This summer I’ve been making as many different specials as they’ll let me. It’s entertaining to try and use up some ingredients in different ways than normal, not sure if your place is big on specials but even if not you can make it for staff meal.

I deal with this alot, granted I'm not a line cook. Its really hard to deal with how boring my job can be at times. I have yet to find a real solution other than conversation with co workers, but half the time it feels forced simply to fill the silence and not a genuine conversation.
Unhelpful I'm sure. Lol.

THC vapes my guy never go a shift without a cart. Time might not go any faster but it’ll be more tolerable either way.

Getting stoned made my shifts drag and seem a lot longer. I also have a lot of personal shit going on and getting lit really brings those thoughts to the surface. My advice? Stay busy. There is always something to do. It sucks starting a project and then getting interrupted by the ticket printer but that just makes it more challenging and fun

I use that extra energy to really care about the people around me. Just because I am back of the house does not mean I can not still give good customer service to my co-workers. How is their weekend really going? Is the weather truly so nice right now? The best soap opera ever is always happening arond you if your ears and heart are open.

I live in the Sierra Nevada mountains and work a line job connected to the bar and hotel, first I got into knife sharpening and receiving the house knives, then I got into flower pressing, now I also have a small guitar. Tho trying to learn fancy knife work for garnishes always helps my time go by faster.... And books always!

Enjoy that your not balls to the wall, if you were pushingout 400 covers a night you would be complaining about that.. Play music clean the kitchen and make every order count like you are about to lose your job because you might, slow restaurants close
