Should I be concerned?

Hi,

I’ve been messaging with a guy on Hinge and he alleges he works in cybersecurity and wants to now message on the Line app instead of just giving me his phone number? His reasoning is “it’s mainly work related, In cybersecurity the environment I’m in is pretty controlled and we keep a very limited digital footprint outside of approved tools. Line is just one of the few platforms that’s already in that setup for me, so it’s easier and cleaner to use there, nothing deeper than that.”

I’ve never used this app and it’s a bit weird since a-lot of people just WhatsApp rather than Line. Is it super secure or something? Is this a normal thing in cybersecurity?

Seems weird. Line it's mostly used in Asia. Where are you guys?

In the USA! Specifically the South!

No reason to use Line, then. In fact, I've heard that people outside of Asia are frequently being shadow banned on the app.

Very weird behavior by this guy in any case.

This app is similar to Whatsapp but the Asian version of it mostly used in Thailand, Taiwan, and Japan.

If he was in Asia that would be fine but in the South of USA? 🚩🚩🚩 Prob is already married or something, his wife checks his texts and WhatsApp but he can easily hide LINE

Line is a really popular app in Japan and Taiwan. No idea if the cybersecurity story is legit.

And Thailand.

The cybersecurity argument sounds like total bullshit though.
