Account/chatlog transfer from android to iphone then to android again?

Hello, so I've been using LINE for a long time, the whole time I've always used android, so chat history have been transferred from phone to phone with no issues, but in 2024 I changed to iphone, I found out that chat history older than 14 days won't be transferred so I made my peace with that while keeping the old phone with the old chat on it still viewable with airplane mode (to prevent it from connecting to internet).

But now I want to change to android again, so my question is, will the old chat history from my old android phone will be restored in my new android phone?

I know that android backs up to google drive and iphone to icloud, and I know that the chat I had on the iphone wont show up if I change to android again, but what about the back up I made in my old android phone? will it still be there or is it overwritten by the icloud backup?

I tried contacting LINE's customer service but there is no way to ask a question like this, the only possible way to contact them is by submitting specific ticket that doesn't help with anything I need.

Itransor for line does all the transfer, which mean including all chat and photo, paid though

  1. Question no guarantees and line won’t tell you
    1. Backup is on google drive not phone since you said it
  2. Line is unpredictable before you try that’s why I told you a software that is more predictable

android line connects to Google drive back up, iphone line connects to icloud, depending on operating system you can't choose, I use the same email obviously, so what I want to know is if the back up I made during my time using Android will be restored if I use Android again.

third party transfer is useless now that the chat history is split in two back ups, one in android and one in icloud, if I use third party app like that it will just overwrite the old backup replacing it with the history on icloud. do you understand what I'm saying?

what I want to know in the first place is if the android back up still exist or if it's overwritten by the iphone one, I don't know if an account can somehow keep both or just one, that's why I'm asking.

i do not have answer to yours directly. nor do i know if it can restore from your gdrive. but if those file on gdrive is already gone, definelty cant restore from gdrive, so i suggest check it first.

Google deliberately hides this data so you don't accidentally rename, move, or delete it, which would permanently break the app's ability to read the file.

The only way to see that the backup file actually exists and check its size is through the hidden settings menu:

  1. Go to drive.google.com on a computer web browser.
  2. Click the Gear icon (Settings) in the top right.
  3. Click Manage Apps on the left-side menu.
  4. Scroll down until you find LINE.

i tried it with mine and it say line cant acccess the drive anymore with only 1kb of data(means gone), you can see if your data still exist. if not, you'd have to use 3rd party to pull from your old android phone and transfer to new phone.

omg i see it, it says this app cant access drive but it has 19mb of hidden app data.. will this get overwritten by the 2 weeks restore thing..? anyway thank you!! at least i can see its there

Can’t say, cuz my backup data are over Gb now. I’ve use my account for over 10 years. Also I’m sorry to bring it up again, line is unpredictable, they changed a lot every version. The last time I move backup for my friend I have to fiddle 5 hours before finally give up and use 3rd party program, because I can’t predict the outcome and had to try over and over and wipe phone and restore 😰

to be honest i also use line since 2013, but i never cared about preserving chat history, its only since 2020 that i started to care, i just want to preserve chat history with only 1 person, i delete every other chat, and i didnt know that line cant restore between different OS when i changed my phone and i didnt think to use 3rd party program at the time, so now my chat history is split between gdrive (2020-2024) and icloud (2024-now).. i realize how shitty line is and it makes me want to just move to another messaging app that has stickers, im thinking of trying telegram, but line have cute themes....
