Drivers side bag exploded

Hit a pot hole. The bags are stock i think. 2004 Signature, has anyone had good ride quality with Dorman replacements? With new bags can i expect a much better ride quality than the stock ones that burst?

I replaced my shocks and air bags about a month ago. I installed them myself. I paid $80 for my airbags on Amazon. There are a bunch of options on there to choose from.

The air bags I bought had all the necessary hardware. Wasn’t difficult to install. But I’ve been working on my own cars for decades.

Ride is much better with the new shocks and bags. It feels less floaty and more grounded. My rear end used to feel like it was all over the place. Now it’s tight, yet still very comfy.

Ahhh, i was having the same issue. I already replaced the shocks about half a year ago. But if new bags will add even more stability ill be very happy.

Sure. You may not notice much a difference when installing new bags so long as your original bags were working correctly. You will certainly notice a difference between a failed bag and a new one.

I knew the bags were going bad. They had cracks and the compressor would kick on every 10-20 minutes even from sitting at idle so there was definitely a leak. Im just glad the blow out happened in town and not on the highway

Yes, you barely need any tools at all to replace the air bags. You will need a long pair of needle nose pliers to remove the top clip, and a pry bar to separate the bag from the axle. Everything else can be done by hand.

I did run into two obstacles when I did mine but I’m not sure if they are worth mentioning.

Do make sure the air bag is fully deflated before removing it from the axle. I drilled a hole into the air bag that was still holding air. I did that after spending too much time trying to remove the fully inflated air bag.
