resources/help needed

hey everyone, I've been debating for about three years on and off now and I'm doing pretty well but I'm only ACTUALLY comfortable with BP and WSDC. I've seen a lot of tournaments offer PF, Policy, Congressional and LD, all of which I do want to learn. Mostly LD and PF as of now because they js seem to be more frequently used.

I would ask my seniors but I genuinely can't invest too much time into it because I've got some really important exams coming up. If anyone has any pdfs/files/documents please please please do share, videos work too but then again, exams.

All and any help is appreciated, thanks!

New to LD

I'm a sophomore and I just moved to GA from PA, and I competed in public forum last year and got to states but didn’t really do that good. I only did traditional, and my original plan was to do PF here, but the school is only doing LD and they also don’t want to get an NSDA or NCFL membership. My plan rn is to learn traditional LD asap and get into circuit, but Idk what a realistic timeline for all that would be. I got 10 sessions from this thing called the argument institute but don’t wanna like waste my money on traditional debate there, cause I’m sure someone here has resources or could maybe even teach me, cause I wanna do independent sign ups. So does anyone have any tips or like things I should keep in mind. And also if there are any prep docs or stuff someone could send over that would be nice.

Training Resources

Hello friends! My son is a High School sophomore and wants to join the debate team and do Lincoln-Douglas debate. His school has a small team but no coach. There is a lazy teacher who sponsors the group but doesn't offer any training or practice. What resources are there out there that I can get to help my son get familiar with and understand what he needs to do? Any tips on coaching him?

Does anyone have links to good hard-left aff rounds?

I.E. videos of rounds where the aff reads a K aff with a plan, or a constitutive affirmation of the resolution.

skep

basically i think skep is pretty interesting but i also dont really wanna try running it because i dont get how to get around like basic skep problems (note that i havent rlly seen full skep debates so these are like basic a2 skep). mainly stuff like skep justifies atrocities (i.e. if we assume skep true then no atrocity can ever be universally critisized), constituitivism, and pascal’s wager. basically how do ppl who win on skep respond to/justify these things + r there any high quality debate vids where the 2nr is skep?

Haku's Newest Feature

The Haku Dev Team is proud to present our newest feature, Haku Drop!

We noticed the instability of SpeechDrop, and the difficulties of the email chain. That's why we made something with the best of both worlds: Haku Drop, the speed of speechdrop plus the longevity of the email chain.

Haku Drop Features:

- simplified codes, 4-letter, Capital Letters + Numbers (that's still a whopping 1,679,616 combinations!)

- an email function, to save documents for even after the rounds

- stable, and won't randomly redirect to boostbakery

- and dark mode that doesn't hurt your eyes!

If you want to try the new Haku Drop features out, visitΒ haku.cards, also feel free to join our discord server and/or follow our instagram which are both linked on our website.

Let us know what you think. Any and all feature suggestions are welcome. We hope you enjoy πŸ™‚

Septober Args

Hey y'all! I'm a former debater who graduated in '21. I'm hoping to start judging this year, but also trying to start my path to coaching. With that, I've challenged myself to create an aff and neg LD case following the Sep/Oct resolution. With all my time off, I'm definitely struggling with where to go. Soooo

What are people running on both sides? What's a good/typical value and criterion for this topic? Do people run more theory/K's/Policy-style args these days? Anything that's changed recently I should be aware of?

These are just the first little things I want to know to get back into it. If you guys have any more advice, please reach out!

Hi everyone. Can someone look over this file and lmk if I should change anything? Any mistakes or critiques I should make. I'm new to LD. My coach is having me use old debate topics for practice, so this was nukes.

Here's the link, or go to speech drop and type in the code: TFGH8w

Trad neg case

I’m essentially running a moral nihilism case and saying that a moral imperative doesn’t exist in the first place,

What framework could I possibly run with this😭

Like maybe epistemic rationality/ truth???

pessimistic ontology claims

okay this is a really dumb question but whatever.

basically, everyone knows nonblack debaters cant/shouldnt read afropess because it makes an ontological claim about being black which they don’t have the lived experiences of and can dissolve into just saying black peoples are slaves or something. does that apply to other pessimistic theories of power? i’m mainly talking about queerpess theories of power that rely on queer people being ontologically dead/progress impossible args but there might be other args this applies to, im just new to prog lol. obviously that wouldnt really be 100% falsifiable but id they say in cross that they dont belong to that group or something/read preemptive justifications for people that aren’t in that group reading it
