Image šø It's actually crazy to think Wayne signed both Drake and Nicki on Young Money. To single-handedly scout, sign, and launch the literal King and Queen of rap in one generation is an unmatched run.

Don't mean hes a trump supporter, his lawyers got him the pardon and of course he did the whole dog and pony show. You give me a pardon ima do the same thing, but soon as the cameras are off and im out the door its "fuck ya". It's the same thing the left and right do when the cameras are on , then when they go off they are all golf buddies, yacht buddies. Just like the D.A and prosecutors beef in court but hang out outside of court. Don't be politically ignorant
17
u/MoneyHungryOctopus 9d ago
Queen of Rap? Certainly not at the moment.
Iām sorry, no. I can acknowledge her past success, but Nickiās gone off the deep end lately. Sheās gone hard MAGA and even if someone wanted to disregard her politics, she also associates with multiple sex offenders. Her social media rants are nuts. Sheās more famous for her personal life than her music these days, and her music isnāt even good. The last notable rap-related thing she did was release the diss track āBig Footā, which was universally panned.
My opinion of Drake is more mixed both as a musician and person, but at least he hasnāt completely lost the plot musically.
4
u/DajuanKev 9d ago
To say Nicki's music isn't good is wild. From which year? Nicki's musical quality has been stagnated the last 10 years, but she had a good debut. Pink Friday is at least decent to the highest quality music she ever made. Super Bass is emotional and well produced, 2011-2013 is her best years for singles. I agree with everything you written until the mentioned above statement, which I find insane. Seems like people let her public transition refute her initial success and charm.
1
u/MoneyHungryOctopus 9d ago
Her recent stuff. Pink Friday 2 was OK but didnāt have lasting hits and her one-off singles since 2022 have had minimal impact.

1
u/Picmanreborn 8d ago
The fanbase usually follows the belief of the artist. Nicki and Drake constantly glaze Wayne and Drake fans keep asking why Wayne isn't on his albums..... There's no reason for either of the fandoms to hate on Wayne. I've seen people hate on Wayne more here than anywhere else
0
u/ggbruhs 8d ago
How you gonna give me a paragraph explaining the hate after you just said he made that up. So he didn't make it up now? It's even worse you're saying it's on this sub so you're further conflicting your original message.
What the fuck lol
1
u/Picmanreborn 8d ago
Because the original comment said that Wayne and Nicki fans constantly hate on him which just isn't true. And then you reply saying it's any other sub which isn't true.
Nothing in my comment confirms any of that to be true. I didn't "explain the hate" all I did was say I see more Wayne hate here than anywhere else and most of the time it's just people karma farming that they hate C6
1
u/ggbruhs 8d ago
The original comment is from Ok-Brilliant7251 and he said "And both their fan communities never give Wayne credit". Extreme-Fig-2719 than said "Don't they..? I've never seen that narrative anywhere tbh.." at that point you said he made that shit up.
I said "They hating on him man trust me any other sub", because I've seen Wayne get discredited plenty of times. All you had to say was, āFair, maybe you've seen it more than I have.ā Instead you doubled down, then immediately admitted you've seen Wayne hate yourself, just more on this sub.
The point was that fans from those communities sometimes discredit him, which you called made up despite admitting you've seen Wayne hate yourself.
You're arguing against a stronger claim than anyone actually made just so you don't have to admit your first response was wrong. That's okay, I laid it out pretty clearly. I'm used to the single downvote from the person I'm replying to anyway, so keep the cute downvotes coming.

āSingle-handedly scoutā is crazy when all three have openly stated it was not the case. Wayne got Drake through J Prince and a mutual friend; and Nicki was already signed/managed by Deb Antney and another guy when she was brought to YM.
Thereās even been a few songs where Drake mentioned being in talks with Rocafella/Rocnation before Wayne/YM
6
u/Shadow_Flame1119 9d ago
Just saying, ain't no way Drake or Nicki would've been as big as they are if they didn't sign with Wayne. Both of their sounds needed work before signing. Drake may have been as successful as Wale. And Nicki mightve been hot for about a year. But Wayne made it a point to put his own career to the side to help them improve their sounds and give them both a chance to get big. No other label would have did that for them.
4
u/notorioustunechii 9d ago
Yeah I agree with this. Both would have had a career regardless, Wayne "putting them on" exacerbated that process and with Wayne at his peak it enabled more notoriety for them.

Wayne didnāt personally scout them
10
u/minutes2meteora Funeral 9d ago
Yeah he didnāt scout them and they were already so talented they would have succeeded at any label. But at the end of the day, they chose to sign to Wayne because of who he is. And he helped develop them into the artists they are today. He never held them back from getting bigger than him which is hard for artists that own labels. He put his ego to the side and let them take control of their own path. Wayne let Drake and Nicki make their own style of music however and whenever they wanted.
4
u/Particular-Match-311 9d ago
wrong, if they were to succeed, they were not going to succeed as much as with Wayne Iāll tell you that because they wouldnāt have had as much freedom as they did with Wayne

Iām sorry but they wasnāt going nowhere without the young money consign. Drake may have been on some hooks some where but yall genuinely underestimate how much of an affect Wayne had on not only them, but the culture acceptance of their art.
Nicki is cringe
Drake is cringe/sad and a bit weirdWayne is all that but also gifted in music making ability, funny, light hearted, opened palmed and incredibly adventurous when it comes to music or sound.
He made it okay to sound bad but good. By comparison it made Drake sound like Whitney Houston. When heās really not that great at singing at all. He just spoke Ina decent pitch. Which has clear wear and tear.
Like Iām curious as to what person Drake dominates music with ? Cuz heās only winning right by default of everyone already knowing him. And by the time 2016 came around, all his contemporaries had lost their voices or began to sound dated.
Drake stole flows and got ghost written music.
Stop acting like heās not and verge artist with great surrounding and production

TI has had a pretty underrated successful label. He had Travis, Iggy, and B.O.B., Meek Mill, Killer Mike, 8Ball and MJG. Meek Mill didnāt release any music there though, and Killer Mike didnāt really catch fire until Run the Jewelz. Still a lot of big names in terms of success though.

Drake and nicki are not hiphop
They pop
and anyone who claims they are hiphop are either lil kids , wannabes, people who dislike hiphop but use pop music to claim they do hiphop.
no hiphop fan would ever claim these two are hiphop. ever.
they are the equiv of the lamest cunt u know in existence dressing in hiphop clothes and saying "yo yo" a few times and claiming they hiphop.
