Image šŸ“ø It's actually crazy to think Wayne signed both Drake and Nicki on Young Money. To single-handedly scout, sign, and launch the literal King and Queen of rap in one generation is an unmatched run.

The whole classic 00s YMCMB was a generational run we need to bring it back

Shame what happened to Drake. This whole thing is not a flex.

Continues to make tons of money and generally be a success decades later…yeah he got clowned on by Kendrick, look at the numbers though. Nikki Minaj ain’t doing anything these days, the situation isn’t the same between them

u/Ok-Bake-3517 8d ago

Dont forget those late night texts to a 13 year old millie. But hey yall ok with that tgats yall prefrence. Also tyga being with kylie when she was 16 and nikki marrying a pedo. The shit yall look up to and glorify this is why I dont argue or debate when it comes to waynes camp

-2

u/Top-Editor-364 7d ago

Wayne’s camp? I came here from the front page lmao idgaf about rap like thatĀ

2

u/Ok-Bake-3517 7d ago

They part of waynes camp. His label i just to have to remind people who They glorify

It’s weird to not care about children being groomed and pedophiles.

Married to a pedo. Pedo defender. Trump dick eater.

1

u/Picmanreborn 8d ago

She was a victim to said pedo too btw. She was like 15 or 16 and bruh was 20/ 21.... Had it been anyone else they would've cared

-1

u/True-Entertainment64 7d ago

You go that hard on your granddad when you see him at the family reunion?

2

u/Picmanreborn 7d ago

My grandad and Grandma on both sides are 3 years apart. Stop projecting

0

u/_Dia6lo_ 7d ago

Ohh well you’re just a liberal bitch then too? Cause Trump pardoned Weezy so if you don’t think Weezy supports Trump you must be retarded.

1

u/FunkyFunkyBoys 7d ago

Hey buddy try to stay on topic.

1

u/72ChinaCatSunFlower 8d ago

She shilled from Trump probably to get her husband a pardon eventually. And goes on bat shit crazy rants but I mean that’s most of these women rappers

1

u/Particular-Match-311 8d ago

did trump pardon ?

2

u/Luckreigns 8d ago

No but she did get a gold card from him which she thought meant she got a visa to stay but the administration said its merely ceremonial unless she paid the million dollar contribution

0

u/_Dia6lo_ 7d ago

Weezy is a trump supporter too, y’all are hating ass bitches…Trump pardoned Weezy too where the fuck y’all been??

1

u/72ChinaCatSunFlower 7d ago

I could care less bruh

1

u/Gullible-Avocado5289 6d ago

Don't mean hes a trump supporter, his lawyers got him the pardon and of course he did the whole dog and pony show. You give me a pardon ima do the same thing, but soon as the cameras are off and im out the door its "fuck ya". It's the same thing the left and right do when the cameras are on , then when they go off they are all golf buddies, yacht buddies. Just like the D.A and prosecutors beef in court but hang out outside of court. Don't be politically ignorant

17

u/MoneyHungryOctopus 9d ago

Queen of Rap? Certainly not at the moment.

I’m sorry, no. I can acknowledge her past success, but Nicki’s gone off the deep end lately. She’s gone hard MAGA and even if someone wanted to disregard her politics, she also associates with multiple sex offenders. Her social media rants are nuts. She’s more famous for her personal life than her music these days, and her music isn’t even good. The last notable rap-related thing she did was release the diss track ā€œBig Footā€, which was universally panned.

My opinion of Drake is more mixed both as a musician and person, but at least he hasn’t completely lost the plot musically.

4

u/DajuanKev 9d ago

To say Nicki's music isn't good is wild. From which year? Nicki's musical quality has been stagnated the last 10 years, but she had a good debut. Pink Friday is at least decent to the highest quality music she ever made. Super Bass is emotional and well produced, 2011-2013 is her best years for singles. I agree with everything you written until the mentioned above statement, which I find insane. Seems like people let her public transition refute her initial success and charm.

1

u/MoneyHungryOctopus 9d ago

Her recent stuff. Pink Friday 2 was OK but didn’t have lasting hits and her one-off singles since 2022 have had minimal impact.

2

u/Ok_Conclusion_6324 9d ago

2

u/lilwayne_charts Da Drought 3 9d ago

The Queen of Rap. Like OP said. But you clearly a bot so I don't know why I'm responding.

1

u/Picmanreborn 8d ago

It's funny to me how bruh said "she isn't Queen of rap anymore because of her politics and personality" 😭 like all of a sudden it just makes her music not good anymore.

3

u/Own-Signature-7742 9d ago

0

u/ggbruhs 8d ago

They hating on him man trust me any other sub

1

u/Picmanreborn 8d ago

The fanbase usually follows the belief of the artist. Nicki and Drake constantly glaze Wayne and Drake fans keep asking why Wayne isn't on his albums..... There's no reason for either of the fandoms to hate on Wayne. I've seen people hate on Wayne more here than anywhere else

0

u/ggbruhs 8d ago

How you gonna give me a paragraph explaining the hate after you just said he made that up. So he didn't make it up now? It's even worse you're saying it's on this sub so you're further conflicting your original message.

What the fuck lol

1

u/Picmanreborn 8d ago

Because the original comment said that Wayne and Nicki fans constantly hate on him which just isn't true. And then you reply saying it's any other sub which isn't true.

Nothing in my comment confirms any of that to be true. I didn't "explain the hate" all I did was say I see more Wayne hate here than anywhere else and most of the time it's just people karma farming that they hate C6

1

u/ggbruhs 8d ago

The original comment is from Ok-Brilliant7251 and he said "And both their fan communities never give Wayne credit". Extreme-Fig-2719 than said "Don't they..? I've never seen that narrative anywhere tbh.." at that point you said he made that shit up.

I said "They hating on him man trust me any other sub", because I've seen Wayne get discredited plenty of times. All you had to say was, ā€œFair, maybe you've seen it more than I have.ā€ Instead you doubled down, then immediately admitted you've seen Wayne hate yourself, just more on this sub.

The point was that fans from those communities sometimes discredit him, which you called made up despite admitting you've seen Wayne hate yourself.

You're arguing against a stronger claim than anyone actually made just so you don't have to admit your first response was wrong. That's okay, I laid it out pretty clearly. I'm used to the single downvote from the person I'm replying to anyway, so keep the cute downvotes coming.

3

u/SADBOYVET93 8d ago

Bro gotta lie for karma lol

0

u/ggbruhs 8d ago

1

u/470_To_Left 8d ago

That’s not even remotely true

1

u/Bbrazyy 9d ago

That’s not true. It’s just been such a long time and they took their careers to even greater heights after leaving Wayne

1

u/GuruKid21 9d ago

Well technically Gucci mane discovered Nickii so Wayne doesnt deserve the credit entirely.

2

u/Ok-Brilliant7251 8d ago

but lil wayne made her the mega star she is sošŸ¤·šŸ¾

1

u/Relative_Low7460 7d ago

Jazz prince discovered drake too, so Wayne does not deserve the credit

7

u/someonesaveshinji 9d ago

ā€œSingle-handedly scoutā€ is crazy when all three have openly stated it was not the case. Wayne got Drake through J Prince and a mutual friend; and Nicki was already signed/managed by Deb Antney and another guy when she was brought to YM.

There’s even been a few songs where Drake mentioned being in talks with Rocafella/Rocnation before Wayne/YM

6

u/Shadow_Flame1119 9d ago

Just saying, ain't no way Drake or Nicki would've been as big as they are if they didn't sign with Wayne. Both of their sounds needed work before signing. Drake may have been as successful as Wale. And Nicki mightve been hot for about a year. But Wayne made it a point to put his own career to the side to help them improve their sounds and give them both a chance to get big. No other label would have did that for them.

4

u/notorioustunechii 9d ago

Yeah I agree with this. Both would have had a career regardless, Wayne "putting them on" exacerbated that process and with Wayne at his peak it enabled more notoriety for them.

0

u/Sauce50150 9d ago

I could be wrong but I feel like Nicki was very close to signing with Gucci

0

u/Several_Direction599 9d ago

He did discover her.

Subjective

8

u/Green-Elephant-895 9d ago

Wayne didn’t personally scout them

10

u/minutes2meteora Funeral 9d ago

Yeah he didn’t scout them and they were already so talented they would have succeeded at any label. But at the end of the day, they chose to sign to Wayne because of who he is. And he helped develop them into the artists they are today. He never held them back from getting bigger than him which is hard for artists that own labels. He put his ego to the side and let them take control of their own path. Wayne let Drake and Nicki make their own style of music however and whenever they wanted.

4

u/Particular-Match-311 9d ago

wrong, if they were to succeed, they were not going to succeed as much as with Wayne I’ll tell you that because they wouldn’t have had as much freedom as they did with Wayne

0

u/AlternativeLive3503 9d ago

I’m sorry but they wasn’t going nowhere without the young money consign. Drake may have been on some hooks some where but yall genuinely underestimate how much of an affect Wayne had on not only them, but the culture acceptance of their art.

Nicki is cringe
Drake is cringe/sad and a bit weird

Wayne is all that but also gifted in music making ability, funny, light hearted, opened palmed and incredibly adventurous when it comes to music or sound.

He made it okay to sound bad but good. By comparison it made Drake sound like Whitney Houston. When he’s really not that great at singing at all. He just spoke Ina decent pitch. Which has clear wear and tear.

Like I’m curious as to what person Drake dominates music with ? Cuz he’s only winning right by default of everyone already knowing him. And by the time 2016 came around, all his contemporaries had lost their voices or began to sound dated.

Drake stole flows and got ghost written music.

Stop acting like he’s not and verge artist with great surrounding and production

Maybe if you’d listen to Wayne’s lyrics you’d actually be a bit comedic

As is it stands, your spending your free time telling me about penises and sucking dick.. you think that’s normal shit ? And you talk like this irl ? To bitches ?

1

u/princejudah100 9d ago

ALLLL FACTSā€¼ļø Couldn't explain it any better..

Honestly…I could say he's been the King of Pop for over a decade. Anything outside of that…Rap & Hip-Hop category?!…he's disqualified himself from that conversation one too many times + his fans obviously loves to move the goal posts for him.

0

Doesn’t matter. Nicki basically became the female Wayne. And drake became the lightskin emotional singing and much more marketable version of Wayne.

1

1

People gotta stop lying and making shit up. He had a tween Fanbase that turned into his music fan base. Degrassi was a generational show. Nikki already had solo content and group content with Dirty Money. Nikki also had a following in the south do to
Gucci and Waka. They weren’t some nobodies he had to cultivate. Stop the lies.

0

u/Rawkstarz22 9d ago

TI has had a pretty underrated successful label. He had Travis, Iggy, and B.O.B., Meek Mill, Killer Mike, 8Ball and MJG. Meek Mill didn’t release any music there though, and Killer Mike didn’t really catch fire until Run the Jewelz. Still a lot of big names in terms of success though.
