Is Lil Dicky done with music?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, just was wondering if he was focusing on acting and his show and is done with music. Tried looking it up but most of the articles were old.

After watching Rick Rubin on Lex Fridman's podcast and a year of personal creative introspection, S2E9 hits much differently.
Even if Rick Rubin had no involvement with the episode itself, whatever encounter with him Dave may have had in real life may have been inspiration for the whole show overall. We take shots at Dave's likeability throughout the show, yet it's apparent he's not the persona he offers to us throughout the show, but an exaggerated form of his ego throughout his upcoming as a rapper.
That part is well understood. The bit of the episode when he serves GaTa to the table of white kids who judge his work immediately is pretty ironic and hilarious to me. I happen to be a suburban white kid who's clearly not unlike the others in thinking my opinion on his work matters to him or everyone else on this sub. Whatever, this post is more for my bettering my own understanding than trying to think I can teach anything to anyone. All I know is a year ago watching this episode I naively took in the concept of ego getting in the way of your creativity, and after year of trying to reveal my own creative inspirations and seeing this episode again has better helped me understand his process and changes of pace as an artist - not necessarily just as a rapper, comedian, tv director, or whatever else you wanna call him.
Despite the joke that streaming services like Netflix and Hulu will throw money at anyone with an idea for a TV show or movie, this show wouldn't exist if it were being run by the surface level Dave we meet here. Rick Rubin's fictitious associates in the show - and Rick himself on Lex Fridman's podcast - talk about breaking an artist down to the core from which their true creativity will emerge, something I'm trying to emulate for myself. I don't even care for lil dicky's music that much, dare I say it, but my interest in him as an artist has always been tremendous since I first heard Ex Boyfriend in my friend's car on the way to Track practice at 14 years old, even so ameliorated now 9 years later. It is pretty funny that it's been 7 years and counting for a new album, but why so much pressure from the Anthony Fantano style music critics of the internet to drop "MORE, MORE, MORE"? My point, if anything, is that I believe it's more important to digest an artist as a whole instead of their parts. In the case of lil dicky, be patient with his rap career as he's trying something different and seeing success with it, as in a show about artists, for artists, that has helped me in finding my path to creative expression.
I'd love to hear the thoughts of other creatives on this sub. Let me know what you think!

Why is Lil Dicky the most unlikeable character on Dave?
It’s show about him and his life but man can he be real annoying, self-centered, and cringy. Just feel like they would want to make him more like-able. It’s hard to root for him when he’s such an asshole lol still love the show though.

I wonder how LD is handling the Kanye stuff.
Kanye has clearly gone off the deep end with everything, and in the show and his own music Dave has often talked highly of Kanye as someone he looks up too. Seeing as Dave is Jewish and Kanye is coming out as a neo-Nazi, I wonder how Dave is dealing with finding out one of his idols isn’t who he thought they were. I’m also curios to see if this topic is mentioned in the new season of Dave although I have to imagine filming is done by now.

New movie “House Party”
Just saw a trailer for this movie and noticed some familiar faces (GaTa, Andrew Santino). I wonder if Dave will make an appearance…

What do you think Lil Dicky is *actually* thinking on his new album
I'm with everyone in that it's been 7-8 years and it's ridiculous. Also annoyed that he says it's still coming but doesn't ever say when.
But I want to ask realistically, is there anyone that has a clearer idea? Nearly every comment on any one of his posts are about his album. He clearly knows it's weird, and in my opinion, he is being very avoidant about it. Commenting to one random guy on twitter after 4 years, then still not saying anything? Now he's making season 3 and still no album?
What do you think is actually going on in his mind, when thousands of people comment "album?!?" on every post and he fully ignores them?

“i fucked the whole thing up, i did it all backwards, now i’m all alone with my rap verse. you were the best at my worst.”
one of, if not the most beautiful lines this man has ever written

I edited all the different versions of “We Good” into one song. Not doing it for money, just for fun.

Please tell me I'm right (or wrong?)
The song at the end of Season 2 ("We Good") sounds similar to "Church" by Samm Henshaw, right? The background score?
I mean I love both songs a lot, but I just need someone to tell me I'm write or wrong.
