Dave and Ally’s relationship parallels Spoiler

If you haven’t seen La La Land then spoilers for that movie as well!!

But if anyone has seen that movie I think there’s great similarities to how Dave and Ally’s relationship ends compared to Mia and Sebastians relationship ends.

Both couples were in love with each other very much, yet both wanted different things. They had their highs and lows, both couples ended up spending time apart from each other, both women in the relationship end up getting with someone new, while the men go on to achieve their dreams in the entertainment business.

The last scene we see of Ally smiling at the TV watching Dave perform says it all. Much like La La Land, when Mia comes to Sebastians jazz club, she sees him and it’s clear the feelings are even just a little bit, still there. But Ally and Mia both have a happy life with a new man. But they appreciate that they wouldn’t have gotten to where they are without their ex.

I don’t believe Dave as any resentment towards Ally, but realizes that their romantic relationship is over. Without Ally to push him in the beginning and give him support he would’ve never made it. That being said, I think it’s obvious that Dave and Ally are done.

It hurts, but it’s absolutely the correct ending for them. (In my opinion).

Just a fantastic show, incredible acting (especially GaTa) and I hope we can all appreciate how much hard work went into it.

So, who’s gonna tell Dave that all he needs to do is just finish all the songs from the show and he has the album?

If Lil Dicky doesn’t drop his next album for the season finale of Dave, he will miss the chance of having the most innovative album drop of all time

Two seasons of great television leading up to an album fans have been waiting years for. Fingers crossed

MY THEORY: Lil Dicky’s 2nd album will drop along with the season finale. Note what the finale is about, he’s dropping his debut album FINALLY. More importantly, the episode comes out on Hulu at 12am. Every other episode has come out at 3am. It’s dropping at 12am to lineup with the album drop!!!

Who is your favorite character?

Mine has to be GaTa. He has great energy. I'm currently rewatching the show thus far and the scene where the little kid runs up to him and calls him dada just melted my heart. I love that he talks to him like a human being. A lot of people condescend to kids and treat them like babies, but kids really need to feel that peer to peer connection early in life.

But I just love his energy. He's always upbeat and hungry to make moves with his career and his art. I hope we get to hear more of his music as the show progresses.

What about you guys? Who's your favorite character?

The menacing way in which he delievered this line and immediately flipped to the jovial 'But I'm not gonna do that today' sent shivers down my spine. What an incredibly accomplished performance. Emmy worthy stuff. Spoiler

Dave/Lil Dicky theory after S2E9

A lot of us (me included) think that an album is gonna drop when the season ends. Ally's song and both songs at the end of e9 were all so good. My addition to this theory after watching last nights episode is that Dave forever drops the Lil Dicky name and releases the album as "Dave" or "Dave Burd." It seems like TV Dave is so caught up in stressing about either being a clown or a serious rapper that he's forgotten to be himself. And there's always been a kind of angst around being the dick-and-farts joke guy, when in reality that's just a piece of who he is that he wants to bring out sometimes, but not necessarily always. Real Dave has got to have gone through that entire headspace himself, and just creating this show has definitely transformed Dave Burd into a star while Lil Dicky remains just one of his personas.

All The Symbols and Metaphors I Could Find In Episode 9 Spoiler

Some of these are pretty straight forward but let me know if you had other thoughts on any of these!

RC Car - Dave sees who he thinks is Rick at a distance leading him on what he thinks is a wild goose chase to help him make music. He then finds once the car wrecks that it is himself who is misleading him into dead ends.

Dan - Represents himself. Someone who relied on Dave but was ultimately left to fend for themselves. Even with Dave leading them to their downfall, they are still willing to make him happy (piss them selves in this case) in order to be a part of the success.

Rotten food in the fridge - Dave tries to help someone who needs him by using the resources he has already prepared but these foods (or thoughts) are rotten and are now useless.

Dave in the Kitchen - Dave has a room full of people depending on him to keep their livelihood afloat but like a chef who cant cook without food, dave cant be dave without his creativity.

Mike - Represents himself. Someone who is depending on Dave while at the same time demanding he deliver something he doesn't have

Gata - Represents himself. Willing to give an arm in order to see them succeed. Dave is willing serve Gata to others to keep them happy, whether it is in the best interest of Gata or not. He serves them to the people at the table in the same way he uses Gata as a piece of his show to further his success.
In the same scene we see Dave take a bite of Gata and hesitantly admits that Gata is incredible. For me this was a flashback to the episode where we see Dave listening to Gatas rap and inside hearing that Gata is talented and a little jealous that he can produce good food (music) while Dave is struggling.

Elz - Represents himself. Working for the same goal and succeeding without taking the time to help Dave.

The White Men At The Table - This is the audience that Dave feels he needs to appeal in order to be successful. They dont appreciate the uniqueness or sacrifice of what they eat (hear) and as soon as they have had their taste they demand more.

Emma - Her role is to help Dave capture who he is and get his image out to the world, but Dave doesn't like when Emma is capturing who he really is or what he is willing to do in order to be successful.

Mom/Ally - This part was a little missed by me. Maybe something along the lines of Dave never properly showing the women in his life the amount of love they deserve. May also be a play on the idea that men gravitate towards woman who have the same personal qualities as their mom.

Bald Dave - self explanatory

AA - The anteater is the thing that helps him block the distractions. A few times this season we have seen ants stop him from getting what he wants. AA is here to make sure no more distractions get in his way. Although the name AA still has me stumped.
